Our Story

Hi, I’m Matthew.

My dad was born and raised in Hong Kong, so growing up, my family visited every year. One of my favorite traditions was grabbing Hong Kong milk tea. In Hong Kong, it’s everywhere. It’s a drink that’s woven into everyday life.

When I came back to the Bay Area, I realized how hard it was to find. Most of the time, the only place to get Hong Kong milk tea was at a restaurant. I couldn’t help but wonder why such an iconic drink didn’t have a place of its own.

After spending over eight years building my career in the tech industry, I decided to take a leap of faith and build the business I had always dreamed about. That’s how Homei came to life. Ho Mei (好味) means “very delicious” in Cantonese. My family in Hong Kong always had high standards for food, so whenever someone said, “Ho Mei,” you knew you were about to eat or drink something special.

Every bottle is brewed the traditional way using premium tea leaves and just a few simple ingredients. My goal isn’t to reinvent Hong Kong milk tea. It’s simply to make it more accessible and share a drink that has meant so much to my family’s culture.

Today, Homei is an online shop serving the South Bay. My hope is that, with your support, this journey will one day lead to a storefront where anyone can stop by for a fresh cup of authentic Hong Kong milk tea.
